Mr. Andrew Hunter
Director of Bands; Instructor of Music
Andrew Hunter is the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. In 2007, he was hired to re-establish a band program at Louisiana College after the program had been dormant for 39 years. Since that time, the band program has grown significantly, forming a marching band, wind ensemble, and a redesigned comprehensive instrumental music education program. In addition to conducting all major instrumental ensembles, Andrew teaches courses in conducting, instrumental methods, secondary school music methods, marching band techniques, wind band literature, and studio lessons. In 2012, Andrew was named Louisiana College Professor of the Year. He previously served as director of The Louisianians, a men's choral ensemble, and as conductor of the Louisiana College Opera. He currently serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Red River Wind Symphony. He has also served as the University Division Representative for the Louisiana Music Educators Association. Andrew has served as a clinician or adjudicator in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Izmir, Turkey, where he presented a seminar on American music and Wind Band History. Prior to his tenure at Louisiana College, Andrew taught middle and high school band in Georgia at Gardner Newman Middle School (Lagrange, GA) and Newnan High School (Newnan, GA).
Andrew is a follower of Jesus Christ, a husband to Victoria Price of Northport, Alabama, father to the three most beautiful girls in the world – Allie, Anna Grace, and Mercy – and in March will be father to his first son, Stephen Charles.
