Dr. Carolyn Spears has been teaching and advising undergraduate health and physical education majors spanning more than three decades. Her previous teaching experience was at Nicholls State University and Delta State University. She returned to her alma mater, Louisiana College, in 1977, where she currently continues her service in the following capacities:

Dr. Spears maintains her outreach to the community and state with her involvement in The American Heart Association Board, Jump Rope for Heart Public School Program, Health & Physical Education community-wide sponsored Senior Adult Aquatics Program and the STAR Program sponsorship with the Rapides Parish School Board (La College based transition program designed for selected special education students between the ages of 19-21). She is an active member of Centerville Baptist Church in St. Landry, La.
