Assistant Professor in Nursing
Victoria currently teaches for the Division of Nursing. The courses include NU 421 Public Health Nursing and clinical, NU 314 Physical Assessment and lab and NU 425 Clinical Skills lab Med Surg II. In the past she has taught NU 310 fundamentals in Nursing theory and clinical, Physical Assessment NU 314, created an online NU 304 Transcultural Nursing, assisted with NU 402 Medical Surgical 2, and NU 450 Medical Surgical , Public Health Clinical Skills Lab, created a NU 210 Concepts in Nursing for Jenzabar and created a hybrid pharmacology course.
Victoria Young has a career in nursing which spans more than 30 years. Her career has been varied and includes Medical ICU, ER, PACU, Thoracic Intensive Care Unit, Louisiana Poison Control Center, home health and installing electronic medical record systems in hospitals and teaching medical personnel how to use the electronic medical record. Victoria also has a background in alternative medicine and has certifications which include aromatherapy, Chinese medicine, Reiki, nutrition and energy medicine. She is passionate about online teaching and has been certified in Quality Matters Online as a course designer and reviewer.
Victoria is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society. Some of her accomplishments include 2 presentations simulation in an unfolding case study, and alternative medicine in nursing at the Branson Nurse Educator Conference 2014, receiving the Roy O. Martin Endowed Professorship, presenting numerous topics for organizations around town. She is currently working on an article on lavender and researching the benefits of its use in healing. Spare time is devoted to volunteering for different civic events, supports Alpha Epsilon, the sorority for St Jude’s and loves helping at church.
