Program Admissions Policies
Admissions Criteria
To ensure that the PTA Program enrolls students who reflect its mission and goals, the
preferred applicant to the program will give evidence of and demonstrate the following:

Satisfactorily complete (grade of C or better) all prerequisite course work by
(prerequisites are listed below)

Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above in all college level courses pursued.
Due to the completive nature of the application process a higher grade point average may
be desirable.

Completed and documented at least 30 clock hours of observational experience under the
direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, either voluntary or paid, in at least
two different physical therapy settings for a minimum total of 60 hours. Due to the
competitive nature of the application process additional hours may be desirable.

Have reference evaluation forms (3) from employees, mentors, instructor, or advisors,
who can attest to the applicant’s academic abilities, personal character, and work ethic.

Have two official transcripts from all other college/universities attended.

A background check and drug screening must be completed prior to acceptance into the PTA
program at Louisiana College. Students are responsible for the payment of their background
investigation, and American Databank must conduct the investigation.
Admission to Louisiana College does not constitute admission to the PTA program specific courses.
In addition to meeting general college admission requirements (See Louisiana College Catalog, pg. 30-39),
meeting the admission requirements to the technical education portion of the PTA curriculum is mandatory.
*Additionally, due to the competitive nature meeting technical education admission requirements does not
constitute admission into the PTA program.
