Media and Communication

Welcome to the Louisiana College Division of Media and Communication, home to the Departments of Convergence Media and Communication Studies.  If you have reached this page, you are likely a prospective student weighing college programs.  It’s a life-altering decision, and no doubt many college and universities are vying for your attention.  But, while other programs may tout their size and stature, few can deliver the personal commitment offered by our dedicated faculty.  To us, you are an individual – a name, not a number.

An average class size of 12 affords us the opportunity to develop personal relationships with our students in an effort to ensure they receive the best education possible.  At the same time, our programs have been developed to equip students with the critical communication skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing media and communication landscape.

For students interested in a media-centric career, the Department of Convergence Media offers cutting-edge programs in Convergence Journalism, Media Production and Public Relations.  Students within the Department of Convergence Media develop diverse skills through practical experience across a host of media platforms.

For students considering alternative professional careers or future graduate work, our Department of Communication Studies offers flexible programs designed to develop more traditional, yet highly sought after oral and interpersonal communication skills.  In addition, the Department of Communication Studies offers a minor in Communication Studies to compliment virtually any discipline as well as a Speech Education minor for students interested in teaching speech and drama in a secondary setting.

Regardless of your interests in media and communication, our departments likely have a program that meets your needs.  We encourage you to spend some time on our website learning about our highly qualified faculty as well as our departmental programs in Convergence Media and Communication Studies to see for yourself why Louisiana College provides you the best opportunity for future success.  Come be a part of a growing family.  Be a name, not a number!
