Assistant Professor of Missions and Ministries
The School of Missions and Ministries at Louisiana College welcomes applications for an Assistant Professor and Dean of Chapel. The full-time tenure-track position begins August 2021.
Description of Position
The qualified candidate must demonstrate an active Christian faith and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 along with the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to engage students actively and to contribute to an academic learning community both in a classroom and online. Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in lecture courses that will include the candidate’s specialty area as well as other specific needs in the department. The position also requires that the faculty member be available for advising of students, have a willingness to serve on college committees, and assist in curriculum development and recruitment opportunities. Faculty development through scholarship activities is encouraged with some funding available through an endowment. The successful candidate will be required to teach at least 15 hours each semester, including Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise for various majors and minors.
As the Dean of Chapel, the successful candidate will work with the President of the College, the Associate Vice President for Student Engagement and Enrichment, and the Dean of Missions and Ministries to enhance and encourage the development of the spiritual lives of students and to promote the understanding of spiritual and religious practices of collective worship. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with the technical director and the director of chapel band to plan weekly worship services
- Plan and schedule chapel speakers for each academic year
- Make travel and/or accommodations for chapel speakers
- Be able to preach in chapel on occasion and as needed
- Compose and coordinate Bible study materials that correspond to the chapel content, including quizzes and essay questions if needed
Qualifications:
Preferred: Ph.D. in Biblical Studies, Theology, or closely related fields. ABD will be considered.
2-3 years of college-level teaching experience is preferred.

The Department of Psychology in the School of Human Behavior welcomes applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology. Division of Natural Sciences / Mathematics/Computer Science
Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty Position
The Division of Natural Sciences / Mathematics at Louisiana College seeks to fill a tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2020.
Description of Position
To meet the growing demand for IT and software skills in the state of Louisiana, and with the support of regional employers, Louisiana College has established a new degree in Computer Science to meet this demand. The College plans for this major to provide graduates with both a strong technical capability and solid ethical commitment.
Louisiana College began offering the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2018. With this expansion of our programs at Louisiana College, the Division of Natural Sciences / Mathematics is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position to teach Computer Science coursework as part of the new degree program. This position offers the candidate the opportunity to develop the new program, impact students and the community, and engage regional employers to implement and grow the program.
Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in Computer Science, including content in programming, coding, security, and information systems. The successful candidate needs to be able to teach coursework in algorithms, applied networking, computer architecture, and operating systems. Qualified individuals will be given leadership responsibilities as Department Coordinator and will have the opportunity to shape the goals and distinctives of this new degree program at the College.

Qualifications
The candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Proven research track record, outstanding teaching skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality student success are expected. Ability to perform exceptional research and to procure extramural funding, to advise students, and to collaborate with other faculty is also important. Areas of interest or expertise include cyber, mobile, and cloud security, critical infrastructure and systems security, cyber-physical and trustworthy systems, digital forensics, and agile software development. Other areas will also be considered.
The Department of Theatre is seeking candidates to teach dance as an Adjunct Professor of Dance.
Description of Position
This adjunct faculty position is responsible for teaching beginning and intermediate Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. There will be two classes per semester offered. They will evaluate student work and submit course grades as required. For an additional stipend, the adjunct faculty may be asked to choreograph pieces for performances.

The Assistant/Associate Professor Professor of Nursing is responsible for the day-to-day activities of a course (i.e. grades, schedules, syllabi, calendars, etc.) as well as lecture/classroom theoretical content with practical learning experiences in clinical supervision. Position is tenure track with salary and rank based on candidate’s qualifications. Candidate must demonstrate a vital Christian faith and integrate Christian faith with teaching and learning. Twelve-month position to begin as soon as position is filled.
Responsibilities:
• Teaches one or more subjects within prescribed curriculum using a variety of teaching methodologies to facilitate and engage students in the learning process.
• Embraces and integrates the Christian mission and vision of LC, the nursing program mission and philosophy, student learning outcomes, the curriculum model and clinical expectations.
• Facilitates student application of theory to clinical.
• Communicates effectively utilizing professional techniques with clinical agency representatives, staff, faculty, and students.
• Identifies and immediately communicates problem areas/clinical areas of concern to lead faculty and recommends changes and solutions as appropriate.
• Provides weekly or as needed communication with School of Nursing leadership concerning student progress including successes, identified needs, clinical issues, suggestions, and professional learning needs.
• Demonstrates quality nursing care, problem solving skills, effective use of resources, collaboration with other health professionals and professional standards as outlined by the School of Nursing.
• Adheres to and enforces the policies and procedures of Louisiana College, the School of Nursing, and the clinical facility assigned.

• Must maintain the equivalent of a four-course load (12 credit hours).
Duties related to the School of Nursing:
• Plans learning experiences (i.e. classroom activities, pre/post conferences, and clinical assignments for student supervision, evaluation and feedback conferences).
• Prepares written evaluation materials (i.e. syllabi, tests, handouts, etc.) for submission and duplication in a timely manner.
• Manages schedule to ensure regular and prompt attendance at all required course activities, college committees, and faculty meetings.
• Plans and schedules teaching and clinical/lab activities for curriculum courses and teaching.
• Effectively demonstrates excellence in classroom teaching.
• Stimulates class discussions and student participation.
• Creates an atmosphere that fosters critical thinking.
• Compiles, administers, and grades examinations in a timely manner.

• Controls and monitors ongoing instructional activities and systems in order to maintain adherence of prescribed standards and student evaluation.

Qualifications:
Minimum master’s degree in nursing; earned or pursuing doctorate in nursing or terminal degree preferred. Mental Health Nursing Experience required. Experience in student assessment and evaluation preferred but will mentor novice faculty. Current unencumbered registered nurse (RN) licensure for professional practice with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
