About Dr. Daniel Criswell, Ph.D.
A successful instructor is a servant dedicated to imparting information and wisdom into students who have entrusted their education to that instructor’s ability, character, and desire to teach.
As a biology instructor, Dr. Criswell’s desire is to emphasize empirical science to students so they can develop the skills required to pursue careers in any field of biology. The observable, repeatable, and testable science (empirical science) must be clearly understood before students can understand the historical or forensic science that is frequently applied to the issue of biological origins covered in nearly every biology discipline. For students who do not major in a field of biology, but take a course for graduation requirements, Dr. Criswell communicates the importance of an introductory level of biology to assist them in developing their cognitive abilities and providing them with an educational base that leads to wise and intelligent choices in their chosen careers. Successful students are the outcome of successful instructors.
Once the empirical science is understood, it can be integrated into Christian principles to help students see the work of God as Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. Recognizing that the God of the Bible can clearly be seen in the things that he has created, that he sustains and cares for his creation, and that he has provided a plan for redemption for man and creation, are the ultimate goals of biological instruction. This must be built on a foundation of biblical truth and responsible science.
Dr. Criswell is married to Leona, a grade school teacher. They have four adult children.
