About Dr. Janet Passman McKinney

Dr. McKinney graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Health and Performance recreation with an emphasis in Secondary Education and Athletic Training from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1982. After graduation continued in their Master’s program in Human Performance and Recreation graduating in 1984. She became a BOC certified athletic trainer in 1983 and has served in that capacity at the university, high school and sports medicine clinic level then returned to her alma mater to complete her PhD in teaching and administration.

Dr. McKinney taught Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology and health classes on the secondary level. She was offered a job at Louisiana College to head the first CAATE accredited Athletic Training curriculum in 1999 and has served in that capacity off and on and taught classes in the Health and Exercise Science Department throughout her tenure at Louisiana College. She has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 1983. Dr. McKinney teaches taping, personal & community health, nutrition, stress management classes in the department.

Dr. McKinney loves traveling the world and telling others about Jesus. Served as a volunteer at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece as an athletic trainer. She loves to garden, can and cook the things she grows. She attends River Outreach Church (ROC) in Pineville and teaches a women’s bible study on a regular basis. Dr. McKinney is married to Wayne McKinney.
