About Dr. Marilyn Cooksey, RN, MSN, PhD, CNE
Marilyn Cooksey began her nursing career in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Singing river Hospital in Pascagoula, MS. She was also staff and charge nurse in the Emergency Department. Dr. Cooksey spent two years as an industrial nurse at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS.
Dr. Cooksey was a nurse educator at William Carey University for 24 years beginning as an instructor and worked her way through the ranks to Professor of Nursing. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Louisiana Nurses Association, The National League for Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
During time away from LC, she most enjoys spending time with her husband, Alex, and two children, Niki and Will, as well as well as her son-in-law, David. Her hobbies include reading, and spending time with friends. Dr. Cooksey crochets for the prayer shawl ministry at church.
