Instructional Designer for the Center for Online Innovation and Development
About Jason Mercer
Jason Mercer serves as the instructional designer for the Center for Online Innovation and Development at Louisiana College. Mr. Mercer also serves as the Minister of Children at First Baptist Church Winnfield, LA. He and his wife have been serving at FBC Winnfield since May, 2011. As a former online student completing course work in both his undergraduate and graduate degrees online, Mr. Mercer looks forward to expanding opportunities for adults to pursue their education online at Louisiana College.
Prior to coming to LC, Mr. Mercer worked as an education and technology consultant for the Louisiana Department of Education, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, CTE Leadership Academy and provided professional development training for secondary teachers throughout the state at the district and state levels. Mr. Mercer served as the director of technology for the CTE Leadership Academy, a hybrid online training program, created through the New Skills for Youth grant to provide training and opportunity for certification to individuals interested in becoming CTE supervisors at the district and state level.
Mr. Mercer earned his secondary teacher certification from Louisiana State University in Biology, General Science and Digital Literacy. He taught secondary and adult education courses in Winn Parish for six years prior to becoming a private consultant. He is an active member of the Louisiana Association of Business Educators previously serving as conference chairman, vice president, president and past-president. He has also served as the southern representative for the North American chapter of the International Society of Business Educators.
