About Jason Tinsley

Mr. Jason Tinsley returns to Louisiana College as an assistant professor of Health and Exercise Science. From 2010-2014 he was head coach of LC’s women’s basketball team. During his tenure, the Lady Wildcats were 89 – 25, won three American Southwest Conference East Division Championships, advanced to three ASC Championship games, qualified for three NCAA Tournaments, and won the college’s first ever NCAA Tournament game. Mr. Tinsley earned his B.S. in Physical Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and returned to Northwestern for his M.Ed. in Sport Administration in 1996. He has over twenty-five years of teaching and coaching experience, twenty-two of which have been in higher education. Courses taught include Methods of Teaching Team and Individual Sports, History and Principles of Health and Physical Education, Management of Physical Education, Physical Education for Elementary Teachers along with a variety of activity courses.

Mr. Tinsley’s wife, Sonia also teaches at Louisiana College. The couple have one son, Landon. In his spare time, Mr. Tinsley enjoys coaching his son Landon’s basketball team, exercising, working in the yard and cooking for family and friends.
