About Mingchu Gao, Ph.D.

Dr. Gao earned a Doctor of Science in Mathematics from Nanjing University, China, in 1998, and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire in 2004. He worked as a Research Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2004 to 2007. Then he joined the Faculty of LCU in August 2007. He was promoted to a full professor of Mathematics in 2013 and awarded the Carolyn Adams Dawson Professorship in Mathematics in 2020.

Dr. Gao has taught college mathematics for more than thirty years. He has taught almost all mathematics courses in LCU’s Mathematics curriculum. He enjoys teaching students with various backgrounds, including liberal arts majors, science majors, pre-engineering majors, computer science majors, and mathematics majors, etc.

Dr. Gao loves doing research in Mathematics. He has published more than thirty peer-reviewed mathematics research papers on various topics in functional analysis and related fields. Recently, he has collaborated with mathematics colleagues in China by webinars to conduct research in mathematics.

Besides teaching and research in mathematics, Dr. Gao enjoys working in his backyard, walking with his wife, Lan, watching TV, and listening to Christian music. Dr. Gao is a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, and the Pineville Camp of Gideons International. He coteaches Chinese Bible Study in Friday evening. He enjoys communicating with the Lord by praying, through daily Bible reading in the morning, and by telling friends of the Gospel.
